The strain is caused by the extra weight
Of his somewhat plumpish new shipmate.
He's struggling with the massive bulk
Of this camera-happy decrepit old hulk.

An excellent portrait. I think a portrait should always have more to it than just a face and a plain background, and you certainly succeeded in providing an excellent setting here. The second photo is agreeably cheery, too.

And the first photo is more informative about its subject than the ordinary portrait.
