yarnton.com/Yarnton%20Village.html The main Oxford-Woodstock road passes just east of the village. In 1719 it was made a turnpike and a toll house was built on Woodstock Road by the Grapes public house.
The road ceased to be a turnpike in 1878. It is now the A44 trunk road.
