"In 1890, Edward Cecil Guinness, great grandson of the founder of the Guinness brewery, gave £200,000 to set up the Guinness Trust. In today's money this would be equivalent to, approximately, £15 million.

Edward's purpose was to provide housing for those in London who found themselves destitute and unable to afford a decent home. Today, Edward's philosophy still inspires the Trust and underpins its long term approach to providing homes and supporting long lasting communities like Snowsfields."
