The overgrown cottage at the end was subsequently tidied up
and ruined by an incongruous eyesore extension.

On checking Google Street View, I find a shot of these alterations taking place, showing that the brick extension was already there and presumably a former workshop. Such a shame that they couldn't have kept the original brickwork, as this new stuff sticks out like a sore thumb. But maybe it's weathered down a bit since I took the photo.
