Rohace mountain lake
Roháčske plesá are a chain of glacial mountain lakes in the Western Tatras, in the Roháčska valley, beneath peaks such as Ostrý Roháč (2,087 m) and Plačlivé (2,125 m). The word pleso means a mountain glacial lake, so the name refers to the lakes of the Roháče area. They are special because the lakes are arranged in a dramatic stepped formation, one above another, which gives the place a very distinctive alpine character. For visitors, the appeal is not just the scenery but also the sense of remoteness, clear air, and classic high-mountain atmosphere that makes the area one of the most admired hikes in Slovakia.
