Winter trekking
From this forest road above the village of Častá, the landscape opens up only gradually. Most of the time, you walk embraced by beech and oak woods, which form a green tunnel and let through only narrow strips of light. Now and then, a view back toward the lowland appears between the trunks: far below lies Častá, scattered among the fields, and behind it stretches the calm plain of the Danubian Lowland. The horizon is gentle, without dramatic peaks, more a series of soft waves flowing into one another. On a clear day, the light breaks over the fields and rooftops; in light haze, the valley and sky blend into subtle blue‑grey tones. This point is not a grand panoramic viewpoint, but rather a quiet, half‑hidden place where you briefly glimpse the open landscape through the trees before disappearing into the forest again.
