Another picture from the outskirts of Vlkolínec. This UNESCO-listed site is not an open-air museum but a living village that continues to preserve traditional Slovak architecture and rural life. Most of the cottages here are authentic centuries-old log houses, with several set aside as museum exhibits, furnished as they would have been in earlier generations. Visitors can step inside the marked houses, explore simple interiors, and learn about village life through displays of local crafts and traditions. At the same time, many cottages remain private homes, so it’s important to respect the residents and limit exploration to the designated museum buildings and marked areas.
