Church of St Mary's Stogumber, Somerset, This cross probably marked the place where the gospel was first preached in the village, the base and shaft being ancient though the rest is Victorian.

Interestingly the Celtic Cross originated in Ireland, so maybe it came across the sea with a band of missionaries ..
