An orange canal boat full of passengers floating in a caisson is lifted 115 feet (ca. 35 m) before docking into the high level section of the Union Canal, For an idea of size see people outside the glass fronted visitor center.
This is the Falkirk Wheel, a unique rotating boat lift which was built as a Millennium project and links the Union Canal with the Forth and Clyde Canal,
Pips show progress through the lift,......... Large view recommended!
A brief history for anyone interested.
