I remember when, as a teenager, I was shown Mars as a small orange dot in a telescope. I could not have imagined that I would ever see what it looks like from the surface, to survey its barren landscape, see dust storms and eclipses of its small moons, even to see what Earth looks like from Mars. A remarkable privilege.
