322/365 2025 lock

Vintage English Oak Bureau c1910.

This belonged to my Father. His Aunt gave it to him c1946.

Before that it had belonged to his Grandmother.

The key was lost, but we were lucky to find one which worked, from a locksmith.

So nice to have old pieces of furniture that belonged already to our parents or grandparents.
I have an old sewing machine from my grandmother … maybe that could be one of my next photos-of-the-day ;-)

Oh my! That looks just like the bookcase in my husband's study (not a family heirloom sadly), only we don't have a key and I never thought to look for one (because he defeats the purpose of a glassed in bookcase by leaving one side always open - haha). That is wonderful. I like the composition and the idea of people keeping furniture from the past. Our family has some wonderful pieces.
