Manchester House

236 Flinders Lane, Melbourne, Australia

A very enjoyable trip to Melbourne in October 2024.

Manchester House was constructed in 1911-1912 to a design by architects, Bates Peebles and Smart, and marked the entry of the old Adelaide clothing manufacturers, G & R Wills and Company, into the Melbourne clothing industry centred on Flinders Lane. It is a substantial reminder of the role of the rag trade in Flinders Lane early this century.

My wife has an irresistible urge to enter these places...I would stay outside admiring this architecture. Warm greetings, Anton.
