Witch Marks on Bradford on Avon Tithe Barn

A close up of the wall of the medieval tithe barn at Bradford on Avon, Wiltshire. These stones, near an entrance, are inscribed with "Witch Marks", also known as apotropaic marks, intented as a ritual protection from evil spirits and the 'evil eye'.

It's amazing to think of these being carved into this building as a supernatural protection some 700 years ago!
