Nice image, Frank! It gives a nice, warm feeling and a little deja vu from old days past. Houses of old used to have siding like that. And congratulations on Explore! This image made into there.
Thank you Kenneth! Yeah, this is the garage to a house I'm told is at least eighty five years old. .. and, yes, you don't see them last like this anymore. I think all they do is paint it from time to time.
An unusual image, I think, for you Frank. Not in your usual style, but you seem to be experimenting. An unregarded corner; something our eyes pass over, usually, without thinking. A smartphone shot; not aesthetically pleasing, I think. It’s the kind of image defined by what it is not: not much colour, poor light, uninteresting subject. I hope you don’t find this presumptuous, Frank, but I’m really curious to know what your idea/perception was here.
Please don’t feel you need to reply. The picture has worked for me as a thing to meditate on. And, as I have been told, sometimes all you can do-all you should do- is ‘’Just look”.
Exactly right Steve. Short answer, I got a new smartphone (upgraded from my seven year old flip phone) and just started snapping pictures to see what it does. Then, as you say, just kept looking at this one with possibilities. Glad you picked up on this and confirmed my thinking.
Thanks Frank. I think you might find the smartphone useful. For a skilled photographer like yourself I think it might work in the way a sketchbook works for an artist.
Interesting thought Steve. Yes, the Smartphone camera is becoming well accepted as Fine Art, however, I'm not ready for it just yet. But the sketchbook idea is something I might title an album for my phone snaps with possibility like this one. Thank you for this discussion!
