I love the variety of colours and shapes in this scene. All the best, Joe

John FitzGerald replied to Joe, Son of the Rock:

Thanks, Joe. This is a street (St. Clair Avenue West in Toronto) with many small businesses competing for attention. All the best.

John FitzGerald replied to Jaap van 't Veen:

Torontonians are great admirers of Hokusai, Jaap. The mural is advertising a fish-and-chip shop.

Is that Indian-run sushi place in the middle?

It's a common story that Koreans often run sushi places, and Japanese people who dislike Koreans get angry about it.
I've never heard of a sushi place that serves chai.

John FitzGerald replied to kiiti:

It's a fusion restaurant, Kiiti. The mural is of course inspired by Hokusai. It is on the wall of a fish-and-chip shop. The fish-and-chip shop and the fusion restaurant, and the row of buildings that they were in, are now gone, but a few blocks away another restaurant still has a mural of The Great Wave off Kanagawa, one of several in Toronto.
