An interesting point about the wires, Keith. Thanks.
One fell over in Toronto last year, but no one was injured. There were no injuries in a collapse in Vancouver, but 12 were injured NYC. All occurred around that same time, but things seem to have settled down again.
I do like these types of images. One can look back and compare to actual views - and the older they get - they become even better. They are timestamps of the past.
You filled the frame very well!
Thanks, Otto. Collecting old views of streets is what got me interested in photography. I started out documenting a local street so I could compare the current street with archival shots.
I did a quick check myself. Crane collapses are rare, but people die in some of them. I found a fourth collapse in Canada last year in which five people died. The RCMP has recommended prosecution. Four in a year is an exceptional number for Canada. Perhaps more rigorous inspections need to be done. Not holding my breath, unfortunately.

Those tall cranes never look safe to me and I'm always surprised you never seem to hear of them falling over (thank goodness)!
