Beautifully blue sky! This is almost a semi-abstract photo - without the tree, it would be, but the tree adds so much you wouldn't want to be without it in the shot.

John FitzGerald replied to rdhinmn:

Thanks, Bob. This was one of those days when the sun reflecting off the snow was too bright to capture as it appeared.

Outstanding winter scene. It's quite a difference from the 20C or above readings in parts of Ontario this afternoon.

John FitzGerald replied to Don Sutherland:

Thanks, Don. Yes, this a bit different to today. We had a thunderstorm this morning.

I like the way that tree seems to be propping the frame up/ holding a window open. The tracks in the snow are a puzzler.

John FitzGerald replied to Steve Bucknell:

Thanks, Steve. I hadn't thought of that role for the tree. And thanks also for calling attention to the tracks. I have some ideas about that but am going to see if I can come up with better ones

Amazing shot and I really like how it appears 'up close' and 'distant' at the same time.

I hadn't thought of that aspect, Saj. Thanks.

Very well composed John..........I love the contrast between the striking blue sky and the snow especially. The branches of the tree fill up the empty space above the snow.
