I like the motion in both directions - the (younger) walker and the car. And the heaviness of age contrasting with the bold reds all going somewhere. And the stripe of orange just watching it all go by.

I agree with "rdhinmn" above. The aging lady manages to still move forward.

Nicely done John...........the movement of the car and the younger lady make it look as if the lady with the walker is standing still.

I might need one of those walkers soon...............I wonder if there's anywhere to fit a tripod attachment?

John FitzGerald replied to Keith Burton:

Thanks, Keith. I'm sure someone is selling tripods for walkers somewhere.

Don't know about the "technically underachieving" part, but there is surely a lot going on here, even more than Bob mentioned. All the contrasts: youth/age, speed/slowness, orange/blue, and of course lots of geometric patterns ... like the taste of a madeleine, this might inspire a treatise called "À la recherche du temps perdu" ...

John FitzGerald replied to Sarah P.:

Thank you very much, Sarah. Technically it's overexposed and the detail could be better. This shot just popped up out of nowhere, though, so I had to shoot quickly with the settings I'd been using for a different shot. The temps perdu this reminds me of is riding on the streetcar as a tiny kid and musing about how I would never know anything more about the people I was seeing through the window. Part of the attraction of street photography, I suppose.

It certainly is for me, Anna. I've been spending a lot of time at this intersection for most of my life.

A good point, Gisela, that I hadn't considered. Thanks.

Terrifying shot...I always admire the aged braving the city whirl...

And this is a very busy intersection, too, Denis. Heavy traffic in all directions.
