Now that's high key!

John FitzGerald replied to rdhinmn:

I turned around from a mch darker shot, Bob, and saw this. I shot without changing the shutter speed just to be sure I caught something. I ended up heavily cropping this one. I took some more conventionally exposed ones, too. Maybe I'll try cropping them.

I looked up “high key” because I wasn’t sure what it was. The gist of it seems to be light surrounding and illuminating the subject, usually to convey a bright happy mood. This can start to look more like “an empty white environment, where Morpheus introduced Neo to Matrix.”
It’s an interesting experiment. It gives me an impression of a city too full, too fast, oozing light everywhere. Summer in the city, and a strange downbeat mood, to my eye.

John FitzGerald replied to Steve Bucknell:

Interesting observations, Steve. I also liked how she's taking a moment to observe, Torontonians are usually determinedly about their business.

John FitzGerald replied to Gisela Plewe:

An interesting observation, Gisela. I mentioned above that I like how the woman is taking a break (amid signs of activity, too).

John FitzGerald replied to Denis Croissant:

I'm waiting for Costa and Caffè Nero to show up here, Denis. Also we could use a few British sandwich shop chains.
