The rock at top center is chalcopyrite, a sulfide of copper and iron. The gems are rubies. Sorry, I don't know anything about the blue artifact, except that it's ancient.

The sprigs of green leaves are the perfect binding touch for this image, to my mind. The piece as a whole is quite evocative, conveying a sense of antiquity & mystery, both in the older hand & the artifact itself.
