A gift of lotus flowers

Temple of Abu Simbel
Egypt

Sunday Challenge - Inspired by a book.

I am currently reading the book, Empress of the Nile, a biography of Christiane Desroches Noblecourt, a French Egyptologist who battled with chauvinism throughout her career. She helped save the treasures of the Louvre during the Nazi invasion and raised awareness and funds to save the temples along the Nile that would otherwise have been lost due to the building of Aswan Dam.

The blue lotus flower in ancient Egypt combined profound spiritual symbolism with documented use as a psychedelic, making it a unique component of Egyptian art, ritual, and religious practice.

Exceptional shot! Thank God for people like Christiane Desroches despite the unfairness of society or priceless artifacts and achievements of a great civilization would have been lost forever.
