We went to the Friday night parade at the Marine Barracks in Washington, D.C. I thought that it was odd to see a suited gentleman on the roof since the military provided their own uniformed security personnel. The reason soon became clear: The vice-president was in attendance as the guest of honor of the Commandant and this was part of the secret service detail.
