Where two dirt roads meet (Explored)

On the Denali Highway

The Denali Highway, which opened in 1957, was the first road to access Denali National Park. It is 135 miles long, of which only approximately 24 miles are paved and the remaining 111 miles are gravel. The scenery along its course is spectacular and well worth the bumpy ride.

Driving this highway was one of the high points of our Alaska trip. We saw only one other vehicle the whole way.

We saw about 4 vehicles. I've heard that it can get very crowded and dusty on July 4th.
