Ein Zug der Selketalbahn (damals noch von Deutschen Reichsbahn betrieben) fährt durch die Wendeschleife bei Stiege ("kleinste Wendeschleife Europas").

Die Fans der Selketalbahn müssen tapfer sein: Ab Ende 2026 wird die beliebte Schmalspurbahn im Ostharz ihren Betrieb für voraussichtlich fünf Jahre komplett einstellen. Der Grund ist der Bau eines Hochwasser-Rückhaltebeckens im Bereich Straßberg. Ob die Selketalbahn danach wieder rollen wird, steht aktuell in den Sternen.

Fans of the Selketalbahn railway must be brave: from the end of 2026, the popular narrow-gauge railway in the eastern Harz Mountains is expected to cease operations completely for five years. The reason for this is the construction of a flood retention basin in the Straßberg area. Whether the Selketalbahn will run again after that is currently anyone's guess.
