A gennel is a Yorkshire term for a narrow cut-through, linking one place with another. In escence, it's a short cut, too narrow for vehicles, so only for pedestrians.

This one is quite long - several hundred metres - and connects Whirlow Hall Farm with Ecclesall Road.
