HWW, from the flour mill in Sabandía in Arequip Molino de harina date 16 21 Sabandia Arequipa

This flour mill was built in the 17th century and was at the heart of the community for around 400 years. It fell into disrepair but was restored to its former glory a few decades ago. The building is constructed from Arequipa’s famous white volcanic stone and it’s surrounded by lush vegetation, plants, cacti, flowers, and a stream. The flowing water is channeled to two water wheels that turn two millstones in the building above. The building also displays some of the old tools used when the mill was originally in use.

How did the grinding stone turn?

Eva Lewitus replied to Nicolas Mertens:

With water.
The mill is a grain mill powered by a water wheel, with the wheel directly under the mill stone - in the same plane. I
Grindstone machines work by spinning a circular piece of stone around its center point. These machines usually have pedals for speeding up and slowing down the stone to control the sharpening process. Wikipedia. I hope this answers your question.
