Castle Dale UT power plant (#0100)

by Don Barrett (aka DBs travels)
The stacks of Hunter Power Plant just outside Castle Dale, UT. The power plant is coal-fired and the first unit of it opened in 1978; the vapor is excess heat (steam) generated in the process. The plant is visible from I-70 and a prominent contrast to the view of mountains. The only information I could find regarding the plant was released by the owners of the plant.

Note how the monsoon was in better form when I was there! This was maybe 15 minutes before my blinding experience on UT 10.
I couldn't get a spare tire in Castle Dale to replace the (unfixable) flat I'd gotten on the San Rafael swell, so I went all the way to Ely with no spare--
