While this might seem like a senseless picture, it has a purpose. There is an amazing number of stairways around the old military base, which reminded me of the fact that it is usually considered wrong to walk on the grass on any base -- thus there are lots of sidewalks and stairs placed to keep people from needing to take shortcuts.
