"Le souk el'Had.....
C'était le souk el'Had,
Le marché du dimanche
Dans le sud Marocain.........
On y trouvait un peu de tout :
Des djellabas et des babouches,
Du piment rouge et des épices,
Des fruits secs, de la menthe fraîche et du thé noir.....
...Et des chevrettes blanches.
Mais aussi des assiettes peintes
D'arabesques mystérieuses,
Des tapis de couleurs,
Des paniers de raphia
Et des plateaux de cuivre.
Juste sortie du four la kesra tiède encore,
Et frits dans l'huile chaude, des beignets brûlants.
Et cette foule colorée et bienveillante !
C'était le souk el'Had...........................

The souk el'Had
It was the souk el'Had,
the Sunday market
in southern Morocco.
You could find a little bit of everything:
Djellabas and babouches,
Red pepper and spices,
Dried fruit, fresh mint and black tea.
... And white goats
But also plates painted
With mysterious arabesques,
Colored carpets,
Raffia baskets
And copper trays.
Just out of the oven, the still warm kesra bread,
And, fried in hot oil, burning doughnuts.
And the colorful, friendly crowd.
- It was the Souk el'Had...
- The Sunday market.
