Stagecoach East 21311 (BU69 XXE) at Swavesey - 9 Sep 2025 (P1220284)
Tuesday 9 September 2025 (1132) – Cambridgeshire Guided Busway
The main running track surface on the Busway is made from concrete sections. As the buses approach the running surface the small guide wheels (set just ahead of the normal road wheels) are lined up by metal guide rails.
Stagecoach East 21311 (BU69 XXE), an MCV eVoRa bodied Volvo B8RLE new in February 2020, is seen approaching the track after crossing a public road at Swavesey. This was the 1126 service A from St. Ives Park & Ride to Trumpington Park & Ride.
The trapezoid shaped cut out in the road surface is a ‘car trap’ designed to prevent small vehicles entering the track. The example in the photograph appears to be full of soil which might make its function ineffective.
