HFF: Eastern Counties VR303 (PRC 853X) in Mildenhall – 17 Apr 1993 (190-10)
Saturday 17 April 1993 – Eastern Counties Omnibus Company VR307 (PRC 853X) seen heading out of Mildenhall when working the 1508 service 155 from Mildenhall to Bury St. Edmunds. It had previously worked the 1345 service 152 from Bury St. Edmunds to Lakenheath followed by the 1452 service 152 from Lakenheath to Mildenhall.
It is an Eastern Coachworks bodied Bristol VR which was new to Trent Motor Traction as their 853 in October 1981. ECOC had bought numerous similar buses new during the production run and then in the 1980s and 1990s started to acquire various secondhand examples to supplement the fleet.
Parker’s Mill was located a short distance to the left and when operational spilled grain was an attraction to ducks that wandered on the road to feed. Drivers had to look out for them in the roadway
