Eastern Counties VP588 (M588 ANG) in Mildenhall – 1 Oct 1995 (289-11)

Sunday 1 October 1995 (1315) - Eastern Counties Omnibus Company VP588 (M588 ANG), a Plaxton Pointer bodied Volvo B6 new in November 1994, seen in Mildenhall when working the 1236 Suffolk County Council sponsored ‘Sundaybus’ service 156 from Ely to Ipswich.

For a number of years Suffolk County Council supported a number of bus services operated on Sundays and Bank Holiday Mondays which criss-crossed the county and connected with each other to serve main towns and tourist attractions/stately homes etc.

In February 1987 Eastern Counties was privatised and sold to its management and then in July 1994 the company was sold to the GRT Group. It was intended that this bus was to be delivered to GRT’s Mainline fleet in South Yorkshire as their 412 registered M412 TET.
