Thursday 14 November 2024 (1146) – Stagecoach East (Cambus) 21234 (AE12 CJV) continues on its way after I had alighted at Parkside close to Cambridge city centre. It is a Wright bodied Volvo B7RLE new in July 2012 which was working the 1106 Busway service A from Trumpington Park & Ride, to St. Ives.

The bus left Trumpington just one minute late but, due to the usual heavy traffic within the Addenbroke’s Hospital grounds, it was now 12 minutes late. It is quite shameful that often delays are caused by cars queuing, and blocking other roads, as they wait to enter the multi-storey car park 1 in Puddlecombe Way. Departing ambulances also have to queue!!

The cluster of people up ahead are waiting at the coach stops used by National Express and Flixbus. Some years ago now the express service coach stops were moved here from stops outside Drummer Street bus station approx. 490 yards/450 meters along the road ahead.

This was the second of three vehicles I travelled on today on this outing. I had initially travelled from Mildenhall to Trumpington on Ambassador Travel 304 (BV72 XFA), a Caetano Levante III bodied Scania K410 new in November 2022, working the 0750 National Express service 727 from Great Yarmouth to Stansted Airport. The third bus was Stephensons 802 (EU24 LWV) working the 1218 service 12 from Cambridge to Newmarket which continued as the 1300 service 16 to Bury St. Edmunds/West Suffolk Hospital via Mildenhall.
