Saturday 20 July 2024 (0950) – Fiveways, Barton Mills is where the A11 (East-West) crosses the A1101 (north-south) and where the A1065 (to north Norfolk) starts.

This was the first weekend of the summer school holidays and traffic on towards the East Anglian coast was quite busy. Whilst many of the vehicles passing through were carrying people excited about their forthcoming holiday, there were still those going about their regular daily business like Mulleys Motorways LW51 ZHJ operating the 0920 service 355 from Bury St. Edmunds to Mildenhall and Beck Row along the A1101.

It is an Alexander ALX400 bodied Volvo B7TL that was new to Dublin Bus in January 2002 as their AV215 (01 D 10215).

The route of the Mulleys service 355 follows the A1101 and so has to cross the A11. Local critics moaned about the installation of traffic lights at Fiveways but it has to be said that the lights have certainly helped reduce delays for A1101 drivers (but perhaps not quite so for traffic from the A1065).
