From the driving seat - Mar 2007 (567-32A)
Some of the roads into Newmarket in the early morning face traffic queues as the racehorses move between stables and the training grounds.
This is a view from the driving seat of one of Burtons Coaches Plaxton Beaver bodied Mercedes-Benz mini-buses in Moulton Road as I was arriving in Newmarket at about 0730 from Mildenhall. Up ahead was an Optare Solo which was arriving from Haverhill.
I was based at Mildenhall outstation which had two buses. Such was the scheduling on the two services featured here was that the bus from Mildenhall went on to Haverhill and the bus from Haverhill (where the garage was) went on to Mildenhall. This got me to the garage to pay in etc. My next trip was from Haverhill to Bury St. Edmunds and then Bury St. Edmunds to Mildenhall/Beck Row. The Haverhill drivers did the opposite scenario.
Both buses were not moving by the way! I was holding back because of a couple of frisky horses out of shot on the left.
