Lhasa Ascent

The most excellent virtue is the brilliant and calm flow of culture.
Those with fine minds play in a clear lotus lake.
Through this excellent path, a song line sweet like the pollen’s honey,
May they sip the fragrant dew of glorious knowledge.

purity of the sky in harmony with the white purity of the walls...strange and level upwards scales showing us the way to the sky...or leading to the central part of the" building".as if it was our inner self or unconscious part . Very weird inhabitation which makes us feel like understanding and studying another culture. Leading to tolerance of other culture and knowledge and acceptation of the difference which is the real weallth when the difference is added to our own culture.
a sort of philosophical picture or allegory

Yes, this is the Potala Palace, the winter palace of the Dalai Lama when Tibet was independent. The spiritual and temporal focus of the country. I was breathless from the altitude and it took me a while to go up those steps! the beauty of the place, the rooms, the shrines up there made it worth the climb though. Once inhabited by hundreds of monks and court officials it is now essentially a museum, with uniformed Chinese guards everywhere. The imagination easily peoples it as it once was ... a mysterious and numinous place ... namaste.
