La colline du même nom (Mont-Dol) s'élève à 65 m, et est située au centre de la commune; elle est principalement composée de pierre granitique vieille de 525 millions d'années. Autrefois, le Mont-Dol était une île, à cette époque il ressemblait au Mont-Saint-Michel, mais la mer s'est retirée en l'an 709. Entre 1872 et 1874 un site préhistorique y a été fouillé, des traces de Néandertaliens vieux d'environ 110 000 ans y ont été trouvées.

Mont-Dol war früher eine Insel, die damals aussah wie der Mont-Saint-Michel, doch das Meer hat sich im Jahr 709 zurückgezogen. Zwischen 1872 und 1874 wurde dort eine prähistorische Stätte ausgegraben, wo etwa 110 000 Jahre alte Spuren von Neandertalern gefunden wurden.
