More than 30 years ago I photocopied a small booklet of forestry English. (Long before something like Google was even thought of...) Just looked up the word hold-over tree ;-)

Doug Shepherd replied to Boarischa Krautmo:

Many thanks Markus. Over the past three months this type clearing has been carried out over a large area of the forest. Some areas have been completely cleared of trees in an attempt, so I am told, to stop the spread of a disease that is affecting the Larch.

Es fallen immer mehr Nadelbäume, Doug.
In unserer Region sind Tausende und Abertausende wegen des Klimawandels und des Borkenkäfers gefällt.
Freundliche Grüße und einen angenehmen Abend

Doug Shepherd replied to sea-herdorf:

We also have problems here Erich but it seems to be a disease affecting the trees. Many are being felled to try and stop the spread.

Enjoy your week, Doug

Doug Shepherd replied to Ulrich John:

In other parts of the forest doing this this type of clearing has certainly resulted in a good covering trees such a birch within a few years.

Doug Shepherd replied to Jocelyne Villoing:

Thanks for your visit Jocelyne, much appreciated. Such previous clearing has resulted in a good covering of trees such as birch in other parts of the forest.
