The 'Defenders' of Helmsley Castle

Perhaps better enlarged

The 'Defenders' are three bronze warrior figures located near the south barbican. They were created by the the late Malcolm Brocklesby.

The south barbican wall which provides a backdrop for the defenders was probably built by Robert de Ros III who owned the castle from 1258.
