making tomato sauce

This past week I have felt like such a farrrrrmer's wife, as far as food goes at least. I made a baked cheesecake, lots of blackberry jam (from berries picked along the road beside our farm), Tarte Tatin (using our own Gravenstein apples), 3 litres of strawberry sorbet, strawberry-Cointreau dessert sauce, and of course this huge batch of tomato sauce. Am feeling so very virtuous. Ah, also purple French onion soup (using salad onions, as a got a big bag of them very cheap - not as good as brown onions but tasty nevertheless - that's it on the stove in the photo)
