A great image from the era when coal was king. The last operational coal fired power station in the UK closed down in September it has been used on standby for some time, we have the highly controversial Drax which burns imported wood pellets. Madness

Many thanks, Peter! And I agree, there is a lot of madness connected to the closing of coal fired plant. In Austria they shut down such a plant with a remaining huge amount of coal. Instead of operating as long as there was still coal there, they sold the coal to Poland and transported it with hundreds of trucks for a long distance. I'm sure this caused much more ecological damage.
