Hallo, hallo ... a great photographic narrative series of how to cut down a tree; of course, country boys everywhere know how to do this; the rope, always the rope (did someone once say "safety is over-rated") ... I just did this also, but with a 200 year old oak killed previously by lightning near my house; but instead of a tractor with log grabber, we used a manual-winch/cable-hoist cranked by the muscles of a neighbor ... and also of course: "wie erwartet blieb der Baum in den zähen Ästen der Hainbuchen (maple tree) hängen - aber nur dahin konnte er fallen" ... the oak tree then was totally horizontal the next day.

... and the cutting was done not to be in a hurry for Fasching (Fat Tuesday), but in advance of big wind storm (called a "Nor' East-er") ... I will put the tree where I want it to fall, and not let Nature blow it onto my house.

"safety is over-rated" caught me ;-)))
that was the problem here as well - there were farm buildungs within the reach of that tree and as it was an edge tree with branches mainly on one side (the farm side) we had to secure that tree....

So..mal Respekt für die Arbeit, die Du Dir mit der Serie gemacht hast..die Arbeit am Baum haben ja die anderen gemacht ;))))
Cool...da sieht man mal..alles nicht so einfach und jetzt meine Frage vom ersten Augenblick an:
Warum musste dieser Baum weg? Stand er zu nah am Weg?

da hat vor mehreren Jahrzehnte mal jemand einen Weidezaun direkt an die Randbäume genagelt. War von außen kaum mehr zu erkennen. Dann fiel ein Baum bei relativ leichter Windlast um - der Stamm war weitgehend durch Fäule zerstört. Als wir den Waldrand dann genau angesehen haben, fielen uns noch ein paar andere Kandidaten näher am Hof auf - deshalb die Aktion.
