Green Eyed People ...

Yet another example of me spending too much time in the 'processing room'.

About 2 percent of people have green eyes. They are most common in Northern, Central, and Western Europe with about 16 percent of people with green eyes being of Celtic and Germanic ancestry. The iris contains a pigment called lipochrome and only a little melanin.

Green eyes are associated with passion, good and bad. People with this colour of eyes are thought to be deviant, wild, and curious.

Green eyes have also been at the centre of many superstitious beliefs worldwide relating to witches, magic, vampires, and evil spirits, the most dangerous of which live in caves!

Please view on black for best effect.

This would be perfect in a graphic novel! So intense.

I had never researched green eyes. Fascinating.

autofantasia replied to raingirl:

Pleased you like it and, no, neither had I until I created this image. I knew obviously that you don't see that many people with green eyes, certainly not those who live in caves, but I'd never have thought it was only 2% of the world's population!

I didn't know I was in such a minority;-)
Spend as much time in the processing room as you like if the result are such photos, this one's mesmerizing, especially viewed on black!

autofantasia replied to Gudrun:

Thanks for the kind comments Gudrun and I'll try to output something else from the 'processing room' as soon as I get a chance.

As for viewing it large, I'm glad you took time to do so because I've just realised as a thumbnail it looks like nothing more than a black square - lol!

Annalia S. replied to autofantasia:

I don't know if that works also for other people, but that black square (with what appeared as a hint of three whitish dots on it) piqued my curiosity and was just irresistible :) Nor was my instinct wrong, because your photo is one of the most powerful I have seen in a while. I can read the darkness of depression in it and it had me trying to pinpoint a sense of dejavue until I realised it makes me think of Grendel in Beowulf ("a creature of darkness, exiled from happiness and cursed by God, the destroyer and devourer of our human kind") and of Gollum in The Lord of the Rings, with his claim to humanity effaced in everything but his eyes.

Carry on processing I say Paul. Your creation is fascinating and very striking, especially when viewed on black as recommended. Thanks also for the interesting notes.

Enjoy your week, Doug
