The wolf is the largest predator of the dog family. Wolves usually live in packs or family groups. Their main food in most regions is medium-sized to large ungulates. The species was once widespread in several subspecies throughout Europe, large parts of Asia, the Arabian Peninsula and Japan, as well as in North America.
