Der Schützenscheibe aus Holz und die lange Tradition der Holzscheibe konnte selbst der Wandel der Zeit nichts anhaben. Die Romantik der vergangenen Jahrhunderte wich einer Sehnsucht nach diesen Zeiten, so werden auch heute noch zeitgemäße Schießscheiben gefertigt. Die bemalten Holzscheiben werden aber nicht mehr beschossen, wie es einst der Fall war. Viel mehr dienen sie dem dekorativen Zweck in Vereinsheimen, als Andenken oder als Geschenk für den Schützenkönig.

Honorary Shooting Disc - this disc was awarded to the winner after a shootout. The honour, or king's disc, is a traditional award for shooting competitions. The tradition is mainly spread in southern Germany and Austria and in Lower Saxony.
Honor discs are donated and shot in honor of a personality, on the occasion of a birthday, a wedding or a competition. In Lower Saxony, king's targets are given to the winner of the king's shooting as a prize and often attached to the gable of his residence as a badge of honor that is visible from afar.
Honor and king's discs are - and were especially in the 18th and 19th centuries - often artistically designed. The hand-painted wooden disc of honor has the original shape of the shooting target.
