The author of the monument is Ukrainian sculptor Vasyl Boroday.
The grand opening of the structure took place on May 9, 1981.

- The total height of the monument with a pedestal is 102 m.

- The height of the sculpture "Motherland" (from the pedestal to the tip of the sword) is 62 m.

- In one hand, the statue holds a 16-meter sword weighing 9 tons, and in the other - a shield measuring 13x8 m with a trident.

- The entire structure is welded and weighs 450 tons.

- The frame itself begins at a depth of 17.8 m (from the entrance to the museum), it is to this depth that a concrete well with a diameter of 34 m goes.

- There is an observation deck on the shield of "Motherland".
