Greece, The Island of Vido (Nisida)
Vido (also known as Ptychia and Nishida) is an island in the Ionian Sea, located near the island of Kerkyra (Corfu), opposite its capital. According to the 2011 census, it is uninhabited.
During World War I, the island served as a quarantine site for Serbian soldiers infected with cholera following the retreat of the Serbian army and some civilians through Montenegro and Albania in 1915.
In 1930, the Serbs erected a monument on the island as a sign of gratitude to the Greek people.
