Botswana, Chobe National Park, Common Kingfisher Looking Right
Kingfishers (from the order Coraciiformes) are a family of birds , containing a lot of species of small and medium size. The greatest diversity of kingfisher species is observed in the tropical and subtropical regions of the Earth, but some species are found as far as the cold latitudes of North and South America.
This sparrow-sized bird is the common kingfisher (Alcedo atthis). It feeds mainly on fish, caught by diving, and has special visual adaptations to enable it to see prey under water.
