Zimbabwe, Victoria Falls Gorge, View from Right Stream
Victoria Falls is a waterfall on the Zambezi River in South Africa. It is located on the border of Zambia and Zimbabwe. The width of the falls is 1,800 meters, the height is 120 meters. The water flow varies depending on the season, the average is about 1,400 m³/s.
Victoria is the only waterfall in the world that is simultaneously more than 100 meters high and more than a kilometer wide. It is the fourth widest waterfall in the world and one of the largest in terms of water flow.
The Scottish explorer and traveler David Livingstone, who visited the falls in 1855, named it in honor of Queen Victoria. In the Lozi language of the indigenous people of this area, the falls were known as Mosi-oa-Tunya, meaning "thundering smoke".
