Pictures at an Exhibition is a cycle of piano pieces by the Russian composer Modest Mussorgsky. It was written in 1874.
The tenth piece of the cycle - The Great Gate of Kiev - is dedicated to the tender for the restoration of the Golden Gate, destroyed in 1240.
The Gate was actually reconstructed only in 1982 and then in addition in 2007.
I remember what the Gate looked like in the 60s and 70s of XX ct.
